NEW CD ANNOUNCED

If you love film music and you love the 1950's sci-fi and fantasy films then you probably already know about the two Monstrous Movie Music CD's.  If not, then you should.  MONSTROUS MOVIE MUSIC contains tracks from The Mole People, Them!, It Came From Outer Space and It Came From Beneath The Sea.  The companion disc, MORE MONSTROUS MOVIE MUSIC continues with Tarantula, The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, The Monolith Monsters and Gorgo.  You can get the discs directly from their website http://www.mmmrecordings.com if they aren't already in your collection.

Well, they're at it again.  This time with an all Harryhausen disc containing about 34 minutes from MIGHTY JOE YOUNG, 21 minutes from 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH, and 5 minutes of the Ceratosaurus sequence from THE ANIMAL WORLD.  The disc will come with an extensive booklet with information on the recording and the films.  Harryhausen fans might know that Ray had very little to do with the animation for the Beautiful Dreamer segment of the film, but he got personally involved on the recording of this segment of the CD with "smashing" results.   While Ray was filming his cameo for the Disney MIGHTY JOE YOUNG, Ray was approached about playing the cymbals. He heartily agreed.  Later when the music was recorded by the orchestra in Slovakia, the cymbal player was instructed not to play during that sequence so Ray's musical debut could be inserted later. As a special "tongue-in-cheek" tribute, a "musical biography" for Ray will be included in the liner notes.

A lot of time, energy and expense has gone into preserving these musical salutes to the fantastic film genre and they deserve the support of fans everywhere.  With the previous releases, the music cues are so accurate that you can close your eyes and visualize what's taking place on the screen.  The scores have been dismissed for years and now, thanks to the people behind MONSTROUS MOVIE MUSIC they are readily available to all.

Fans of the genre will also want to know that they will soon be releasing a CD for THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and an upcoming release of THIS ISLAND EARTH will include a track from EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS.
